Lietuvos moterų teniso rinktinė įspūdingai išsaugojo vietą Billie Jean King taurės Pirmoje grupėje

Lietuvos moterų teniso rinktinė šeštadienį pademonstravo charakterį ir kovingumą ir dramatiškai išsaugojo vietą Billie Jean King taurės Europos-Afrikos zonos Pirmoje grupėje.
Dėl išlikimo grupėje lietuvės stojo į kovą su Vokietijos tenisininkėmis.
Pirmajame vienetų susitikime Andrė Lukošiūtė (WTA-597) 4:6, 4:6 nusileido vokietei Nomai Nohai Akugue (WTA-192).
Lauryno Grigelio vadovaujamų lietuvių viltis atgaivino Justina Mikulskytė (WTA-255). Lietuvos rinktinės lyderė pademonstravo puikų žaidimą ir 1:6, 6:3, 6:2 palaužė 85-ą pasaulio raketę vokietę Ellą Seidel. Mačas truko 1 val. 50 min.
Viskas sprendėsi lemiamoje dvejetų akistatoje.
Joje lietuvės A. Lukošiūtė ir J. Mikulskytė po dramatiškos beveik 2 val. trukusios kovos 5:7, 6:3, 10-8 palaužė vokietes N. N. Akugue ir Nastasią Schunk.
Pratęsime lietuvės pirmavo 8:4, bet varžovės nepasidavė ir išlygino rezultatą. Visgi tuomet Lietuvos tenisininkės pelnė du taškus iš eilės ir šventė pergalę.
Šis laimėjimas lėmė Lietuvos rinktinės pergalę 2:1 bei išsaugotą vietą I grupėje. Favoritėmis laikytos vokietės iškrito į II grupę.
